Live By The Code

Roger Smith is possibly one of the most morally upstanding heroes in anime. He often speaks of the code that he lives by, saying that "it's one of [his] rules/policies." He apparently has a number of rules and ideals that he holds himself to, including the following:

Do not resort to using guns.
A lot of his work involves physical combat and mecha combat, but in "The Call From The Past," Angel offers him a gun to help incapacitate the enemy. He momentarily balks at the suggestion, saying that he really prefers not to use guns, but in this case he has no choice. He also remarked in "Electric City" that it's not his style to carry a gun.

Everyone who stays in his house must wear black.
When Dorothy shows up at Roger's house, offering to live with and work for him to pay back her debt, he tells her right off the bat that everyone that lives under his roof must dress in black... and she replies by telling him that he has poor taste in fashion!

Only women can enter his home without his permission.
The first time Dorothy comes to see Roger at his house, he isn't expecting his lovely guest to be an android. He enters the room with his best suave airs, saying, "only lovely young women can unconditionally enter my home," with a certain sense of levity.

We learn later, however, that this is a rule that applies to all women--when a new client arrives at his home in Negotiation With The Dead, wanting to be seen, Roger calls out to Dorothy, reminding her that he has rules about who can enter his home. He tells us via voice-over, moments later, that only women can be allowed in without his expressed permission.

Value women and the elderly.
Roger mentions, via voice-over, the respect he holds for women and the elderly in "Bring Back My Ghost," when he accepts a seemingly impossible contract from Melissa Frazier, who is both female and elderly.

(More will come later. ^_^)
