Friends and Lovers

There are times when a man can't do the job alone, even with a giant robot at his disposal... and that's when he'll need to call on a faithful ally or two. Here's a quick take on the people that Roger has been known to associate with, and sometimes cooperate with. Presented in alphabetical order.

Angel, a.k.a Casey Jenkins, Patricia Lovejoy

Angel"I'm well aware of your reputation, Roger the Negotiator."

Angel is a bit of an enigma to Roger, and she's in the habit of using aliases, so it's hard telling who this woman even is. She's also not particularly forthcoming with any details about herself, so her motives are a bit of a mystery, beyond her desire to find anything that will lead her to lost memories of the days before the Event. However, her quest to obtain valuable and precious memories often brings her and Roger into contact, and they're often chasing after the same thing, but for different reasons. Sometimes, they'll cooperate, to get themselves out of a jam, or work towards mutual goals, but there's always a bit of tension between the two that makes them not completely trusting of each other.

Big Ear

Angel"I've had my ear to the ground for some time now..."

Every good private investigator needs a good informant, and, in the tradition of naming informants after random body parts, Roger goes to a man named Big Ear. He and Roger meet regularly, and Big Ear always has information to share, but it never comes without a hefty price tag, or the occasional bit of unrequested advice. Big Ear always has information about what goes on in the underworld, so he's often in the know even when Roger's other connections can't help. Roger and Big Ear also seem like they've had time to develop a trust in each other, so they can share money and information without fear of being shortchanged or double-crossed.

Maj. Dan Dastun

Angel"By the way, I don't see that bottle I said I'd like to try the next time I stopped in..."

Before beginning his work as a negotiator, Roger previously served in the ranks of the military police, and Dan Dastun is one of the friends he's kept since his departure from the force. Dastun has a good deal of respect for Roger himself, but his distaste for Roger's chosen profession is always apparent. Roger's dislike for the military police and anything affiliated with the bigwigs of Paradigm is also at the forefront, so things are generally more cordial than they might be if the two men shared the same beliefs. Dan still considers Roger a friend, however, and he'll sometimes dispense important information to Roger, even though he shouldn't.

Norman Burg

Angel"Welcome home, Master Roger."

Norman is Alfred to Roger's Bruce Wayne, and he has served as butler and loyal servant to Roger for what seems to have been many years. Roger trusts him more than enough to keep him in the loop on whatever negotiations might be happening at the moment, and he also entrusts Norman with tasks that are often vital to his work. He's very protective of Roger as well, and he'll go above and beyond the average butler's call of duty. Sometimes we see him packing some serious heat, taking out enemies, and doing stunts so crazy that they even rival Roger's heroics! Norman also has the mysterious ability to keep Big O fully-loaded and in working order, even though he doesn't exactly know why.

R. Dorothy Wayneright

Angel"Roger, there are two things I'd like to ask you..."

R.(obot) Dorothy Wayneright was part of the first negotiation we see Roger handling. He rescued her from kidnappers, thinking she was a girl, but realizing a moment too late that she was actually an android. (although a very convincing one!) Dorothy has since come to live with Roger and work for him, to repay what she feels is a debt that she incurred by asking for his protection. Dorothy can be quite the smart aleck when she interacts with Roger, and is often the first to call him on his shortcomings and slip-ups, which sometimes wears on his nerves. But she's also very inquisitive and curious about the human spirit, and has been unfailingly loyal, so they've developed a valuable partnership in a seemingly short time.
